In May, I will begin the 11th year as Membership Coordinator.  According to my records in May 1997, 360 labels were made with 90 names circled indicating expiration.  This month (March) membership IS 1050 and 130 labels will be circled as renewal reminders.  The first membership number I assigned was 2050.  Membership number 2000 was given in January 1997 Membership number 2500 was assigned in October 2000, number 3000 was given in January 2004, number 3500 was given in October 2006, and member number 4000 was given February 1, 2008 at Moultrie.  We have had some active recruiters in the past two years.  I have assigned numbers to nearly 2000 since 1997.   We need to work on maintaining members.  I have sent out reminder letters and now post cards.  (Bruce "the Big Kahuna" Wilson, a past president has called them those "nasty little letters.")  We take dues at meetings, cruises, swap meets, and other events all around Georgia and even in Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida.  I don't leave home without one! ....a GSRA application that is.   Always have one in your vehicle, too. Have you done your part? Each member is challenged to sign up or renew one friend or acquaintance.  Remember it is the best $20 a car lover can spend.   Members get 6 newsletters, a yearly picnic, 11 meetings at shops and businesses around the state, plus some of the best people with common interests.  If you have any ideas or suggestions for maintaining membership, let us know.

At the World of Wheels, 6 members renewed and 17 new members found our booth.  Thanks to those who worked the booth for those three days.  At the Moultrie Automotive Swap Meet, 7 renewed and 5 new members signed up. Probably 60 members came by to say hello.  Buddy Hollomon brought me an envelope with 5 new members and 4 renewals and 2 more renewals from Hank McMillan.  At our 2008 Swap Meet, 7 new members found the booth and 25 renewed.  Thanks to Sarah Hawkins, Judy Miller, Elsie Lawson, Carol Fuller, and Jack France for helping.  If the weather is good next year, I will be outside close to all the members and spectators.  There have been 119 renewals as a result of the reminder cards mailed in January.  In the past 2 months 150 renewed and 58 new members joined.

Check your label: the numbers on the upper left are your membership number.  The numbers on the top right are your expiration date.  200806 means the year 2008 and the 6th month is when your membership expires.  Remember to vote for Board Members and Officers.  Mail in those ballots! It is okay to make a copy of the ballot.  Just put your membership number on the ballot.  Check your card or label for that number.

Send or bring copies of your event flyers to me.  I'll put them out at meetings and events. I look forward to working on membership for one more year.  And now I need to go work on the 135 renewal notices for April and May.
